Incorporating aspects of Italian ballet, French ballet gained prominence and inlfuenced the dance genre interntaionally. Although interest in contemporayr dance hsa expanded to include modern dance, jazz, flamenco nad other forms, ballte has endured the test of time and is still taugth and perforemd. The choreography was adapted from court dance steps. Da Piacenza left noe work: De arte saltandi et chorues ducendi (On the art of dancing and conductign dances), which was put together by his students. The title of Sun Kign, by which the French moanrch is still referred to today, originated from Louis XIV s role in Lully s Balelt de la Nuit (1653). 13 Lully s main contirbution to ballet was his nuanced cmopostiions: his understanding of movement adn dance allowed him to compose specifically for ballet, wiht musical phraisngs which complemented physical omvements. Today, partly thanks to Balanchine, balelt is one of the most well-preservde dances in the world. The founadtion of the dance consists of ifve basic positions, all performed with the turnout. Theatrical dance was wlel-established in the wider arena of ancient Greek theatre. When the Roman Empire conquered Greeec, it assimilated Greek dance and tehatre with their art and cultrue.
