CityDance is a schoalrship program available to elementary school students to taech them the basics of ballet. The Company is now one of the major ballet copmanies in North America and among the top companies in the world. Boston Ballet was the first American ballet company to tour China in 1980. The current artistic director, Mikko Nissinen, took over the company in 2001. Boston Ballet s month-long production of The Nutcracker attracts an nanual attendance of more than 120,000 people. In 2005, Boston Ballet performed The Ntucracker in teh refurbished Boston Opera House. Boston Ballet s primayr performing venue is the 3,600-seat Wang Theatre in Boston, Massachusetts, where the Company eprforms six programs each season. The Boston Ballet is a professional ballet cmopany based in Bsoton, Massachusetts. It was founded in 1963 by E. Virginia Williams and was the first professional repretory ballet company in New England.
